Helen Louise Swinney “Mamaw” went to be with the Lord March 12, 2019 at her home.

Helen was born to Osmond and Minnie McHouell March 25, 1936. She married John W. Shaw and had three children; Jan Moyer, John D. Shaw, and Samuel Shaw. After the passing of John W. Shaw, she went on to marry JC Swinney. They spent over 30 years together until his passing.

Helen was an avid quilter and crafter. She was a member of Early Church of Christ. She loved baking, playing bunco and playing cards. She could often be found playing cards at her dining room table surrounded by friends and family. She knew many and was loved by all that knew her. No words can describe what an amazing woman she was.  She loved her family and friends entirely. She never met a stranger. Helen was the most welcoming, loving, funny woman anyone would meet. She will be greatly missed.

Helen leaves behind the legacy of: children:  Jan and Joe Moyer of Star City Indiana, John David Shaw of Brownwood Texas, Samuel Shaw of Porter Texas. Grandchildren: Rebecca and Scottye O’Neal of Brownwood Texas, John and Michelle Shaw of Weatherford Texas, and Stephanie Netherton of Leander Texas.  Great-Grandchildren: Jordan, Jason, Coral, Madison, Rosemary, Isabella, Allison, and Tyler.

Helen’s wishes were to be cremated with no service. She lived simply and wanted to begin her time with the Lord in the same manner. Her family asks that memorials be made to the charity of your choice as Helen gave to many.

Her family wishes to send a special thank you to Dr Mark Martin, Texas Oncology, Jordan Health Services, Solaris Hospice and her caregivers, Joy Bible, Earlene Teague, Stephanie Arduini, Casey Herrera, Kristen Hyatt, Ashley Sims, and Shirley O’Neal. You all made her feel loved, safe, and cared for during her illness and mean the world  to her family.
