Brownwood News – On Tuesday, March 5, 2019, at approximately 6:00pm, Brownwood Police, Brownwood Fire and Life Guard EMS were called to an apartment in the 300blk of Bluffview for a medical emergency involving a child. The 7 month old male child was transported to the Brownwood Regional Medical Center and later flown to Cook Children’s Medical Center in Fort Worth in critical condition. The child remains in very critical condition at Cook Children’s Medical Center.

During the course of this investigation, the mother’s boyfriend was arrested on charges unrelated to the investigation. Evan Williford, 21yrs old, of Brownwood was transported to the Brown County Jail and charged with Possession of Marijuana in a Drug Free Zone.

On Thursday, March 7th, a warrant charging Evan Travis Williford with Injury to a Child (Serious Bodily Injury) was issued by Justice of the Peace Jim Cavanaugh. Williford remains in the Brown County Jail and no bond was set for the warrant. Injury to a Child causing serious bodily injury is a first degree felony.

This is an ongoing investigation being conducted by the Brownwood Police Department Criminal Investigations Division, the Texas Rangers, and Child Protective Services. No further information will be provided at this time as this is an ongoing investigation.
