Brownwood News – Congratulations to our March 2019 Spotlight teacher, Ms. Melinda Orlando! Ms. Orlando is a 1st Grade Teacher at East Elementary. She is a Uvalde graduate and earned a Bachelors degree in General Business from Howard Payne University in 1991. Ms. Orlando is a certified teacher with 24 years of experience. Beginning as a Teacher’s Aide in 1991, then a Kindergarten Teacher by 1995, Ms. Orlando has served in districts including Brownwood ISD, Loop ISD, Baird ISD, and Bangs ISD. She served as a Kindergarten Teacher in Bangs before coming back to Brownwood ISD in 2018.

Ms. Orlando continues to use her experience and passion for teaching to create a genuine class family, and continues to see success in her students as they transition from just knowing their letters to reading with expression. Her abilities as an effective teacher are complemented by her ongoing willingness to work, adapt, and contribute as a valued member of the East Elementary team.

Brownwood ISD is thankful to have teachers like Ms. Orlando, and we are happy to join in celebrating her ongoing success with her students.

Ms. Cassi Stewart is our March 2019 Spotlight staff member. Ms. Stewart is a Brownwood graduate and is currently a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) at East Elementary. She attended Ranger College in 2009, and went on to graduate from nursing school in 2010.

Her experience includes work for the Havins Unit, Comanche Co. Medical Center, and Dr. Hogue before coming to Brownwood ISD in 2016.

Ms. Stewart works with a cheerful spirit and is known to go above and beyond to care for students and co-workers. In addition to her service as an LVN, she also leads the Student Health Advisory Committee (SHAC).

Brownwood ISD is grateful to have staff members like Ms. Stewart who put their genuine care for others into action by going the extra mile to ensure our students and staff stay healthy.
