Bobby L. “Bob” Mason, 85, passed away Thursday, November 8, 2018 at his home in Brownwood.

Bob was born November 30, 1932 in Post, Texas to Thomas Robert (Bud) and Tinnie Lewis Mason. Bob grew up attending Graham Chapel Church with his family and was Methodist. He served in the 3rd Infantry Division, US Army, from 1955-1957.

He retired in 1992 from Permian Corporation after 34 years in the Pipeline and Trucking Department. Bob was a very hard worker and actually loved to work. He and Tonya built their place at the lake after years of retreating there on weekends in between all the West Texas miles they traveled.

He is survived by his wife, Tonya Aly Mason; daughters Jan Dodson and husband Olen; Marissa Torres and husband Rudy; Julie Miller and husband Jackie; grandchildren Charles and Chris Dodson; Brandon Jackson and Jaqlynn Puente; great-grandchildren Tye Dodson; Stoney and River Puente; brother and best friend Jake Mason; sister Brenda Mason; and many nieces and nephews who loved Uncle Bob.

Bob is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Gene Mason; sisters Doris Lester, Frances Josey and Pat Kelley; grandsons Bobby Alexander Mason Miller and Cody Dodson.

Bob loved his family, friends, all kids and animals. He was kind-hearted and would do anything for anyone, anytime – day or night. His passing has left a huge void in the lives of those who loved him.

A Visitation is scheduled Sunday afternoon, November 10, 2018 from 3:00 – 5:00 pm at Heartland Funeral Home in Early, Texas. The funeral will be Monday, November 11, 2018 at 1:00pm at the Heartland Funeral Chapel, 303 Early Blvd., Early, TX with Bobby Machen officiating. Burial is at Miles Cemetery, near his grandson, Bud.

Tonya and Jake want to sincerely thank everyone from Solaris Hospice who helped us ease Bob through his struggle with congestive heart disease and to Dr. Charles Hall and staff for care and friendship over the past 22 years.
