Alex Garza

A visitation for Alex Juarez “Shorty” Garza, age 66, of Brownwood, will be held on Thursday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 at Heartland Funeral Home.  A private family graveside will follow.

Mr. Garza passed from this life on Sunday, October 28, 2018 in Abilene.

Alex “Shorty” Garza was born on April 24, 1952 in Villa Union, Coahuila, Mexico to Antonio Garza and Constancia Juarez.  He moved to Brownwood in 1973 and married Alice Gil on October 20, 1973.  Alex worked for many years as an equipment operator and truck driver for Vulcan Materials.

Alex enjoyed working in his yard, building things and playing with his grandchildren.  He was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.

Alex is survived by a son, Benny Garza and wife Rachel of Brownwood; two granddaughters, Dalainy and Isabella Garza and two grandsons, Ian Garza and Jace Garza; two sisters, Ramona Garza of Villa Union, Mexico and Maria Castaneda of Yoakum and a brother, Benito Garza of Twin Falls, Idaho.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Alice Garza, a son, Pedro “Pete” Garza and three brothers, Julio, Nickolas and Cruz Garza.
