“Greenleaf to the Big Screen” is a 2 movie event, starting at 2:20 with Lucille Ball & Dezi Arnez’s 1954 feature film “The Long Long Trailer” that afternoon and “The Whole Wide World” showing that evening at 7:30.

“The Whole Wide World” stars Vincent D’Onofrio as Brown County resident Robert E Howard, creator of Conan the Barbarian”, and Renee Zellweger as Novalyne Price, who became his girlfriend for a time.

Tickets are $5, and are available by visiting the Lyric Theatre’s website, or on the day of at the door.

The event coincides with Texas Country Air, the largest urban camping experience in the United States. Close to 200 Airstream trailers will line the streets of downtown Brownwood from the 25th through the 28th.

Steve Harris, who is on the board of directors for the cemetery says “This is going to be a fun event, with the Airstreams in town we are also going to include the trailer for “Alumination”, a film by Austin filmmaker Eric Bricker still in production about Airstream trailers and their impact on American culture.

Coffee, and other refreshments will be available at the event, as well as Greenleaf Coffee Club coffee mugs. Sponsors for the event include Citizens National Bank, Steve’s Market & Deli, Dracos Janitorial, Landmark Life Insurance, & Brennan Vineyards.

More information about the event, and ways to help Greenleaf raise money to ensure care for the final resting place for many of those with significant to the history of Brownwood and Brown county can be found on the Greenleaf website. The cemetery is currently trying to replace one of its large mowers that has fallen into disrepair, and is sorely needed to help tend the grounds.
