Philip J. McCormick

Philip J. McCormick, 75, passed away on October 6, 2018.  Phil passed peacefully from this life while in the loving care of his daughter, Staci.  Born in Carlsbad, NM to Harold W. McCormick and Rosemary Wadlow McCormick, he was the oldest of eight children.  Phil graduated from Carlsbad High School in 1961 and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in education from New Mexico State University in 1972.

“Coach” taught for the Las Cruces Public Schools for 30 years.  After retiring he moved to the Zephyr, TX area and bought a small ranch to enjoy his retirement years.

Phil was preceded in death by his father, mother, and step father, Richard “Jack” Tilton and grandmother, Anna Mary Smith Taylor “Gram.”

He is survived by his children James (Robbie) McCormick and Staci (Daniel) Moles, Grandchildren, Trey Lara-McCormick, Allison McCormick-Myers, Dustin (Katie) McCormick, and Amanda Moles. Siblings; Frank McCormick, Mike (Tracy) McCormick, Winifred (Byron) Shores, Christine (Don, deceased) Canady, Mayme (Denny) Eaton, Becky (Doyle) Smith and John (Beth) McCormick.  Also 19 nieces and nephews.

There will be a “Celebration of Life” at a later date.  Until we meet again, “sweep the path and make the tea.”  Author unknown
