Brownwood News – Recently, the Brownwood Jaycees had the honor of nominating, and awarding, Brittany Cox as one of the Five Outstanding Young Texans recipients at the Texas Jaycees Year End Convention in Pflugerville, Texas.

Brittany Cox grew up in a small town and attended college at Texas Tech before transferring and graduating from Hardin Simmons with a degree in Marketing and Management. She is a small town girl who had big dreams of having her own boutique and family.

In 2011, part of her dreams became reality when she opened Dazzling Divas, a women’s boutique. In 2015, she married the love of her life, Casey Cox. Not being able to have children of her own, she considered adoption; however, foster children tugged at her heart. So, Casey and she began the road of becoming foster parents. In 2016, a little boy named Carter entered their lives. After two years, they were finally able to adopt their precious son. Before the adoption was final, she wanted to create something that symbolized their journey, as well as other kids and families going through the same foster care journey. So the “You Are My Home” shirt was created, and all proceeds were donated to local foster care agencies and other agencies affiliated with foster care.

Hearing of other’s sufferings and heartaches tug at Brittany’s heart, and she wanted to use her business to be able to help more people. After a weekend trip with some friends, they found out that Hurricane Harvey had hit their friend’s town. Seeing the devastation left from Hurricane Harvey, Brittany decided to start collecting items of necessities (shampoo, soap, toothbrushes, toothpaste, etc) as well as items for children (colors, coloring books, toys, kids soap, toothpaste, etc.) for those affected. Within the week it grew into a huge community event. Dazzling Divas raised over 1,000 cases of water, over 100 cases of diapers, wipes, formula, clothing, cleaning items, food, plus $1,000 of monetary donations. The items filled three trailer loads of goods and 900 packages were sent for the children and families. Throughout the years, Brittany and her boutique have raised money and donations for Toys for Tots, school supplies for children in need, and a supporter of the local youth fair and home economics in which was an important part of her high school years. They were a sponsor for the Ark Color Run, and donating money towards the Ark.

Regardless of being very active in the community and running a very successful business, Brittany and Casey were able to add to their family in 2017 when they adopted their handsome son, Cooper. Brittany truly believes the community involvement is an obligation because, without their support, Dazzling Diva’s would not be the successful business it is today.
