Brownwood News – The Brownwood Art Association recently announced several events scheduled for the month of September. The community is invited to attend the events, several of which have no cost to join.

The September exhibit celebrates the work of Larry Bridges. With more than 30 years experience, Larry Bridges realistically captures and accurately preserves nostalgic subjects, landmarks, and period settings. He offers lithographic prints of pen and ink drawings, as well as the originals. They are available in black and white or hand watercolored, and framed. Also, he executes pen and ink drawings and watercoloring on a commission basis.
As a former member of the Texas Wild Bunch Professional Artists Association, an elite group of Texas full-time professional artists, his art has been displayed at invitation-only shows, galleries, museums, and fine art festivals. Larry has been showing as a full-time artist since 1985 and has received First Place and Best of Show awards.
Larry attended Texas Tech University where he studied Advertising Art & Design. He is well-versed in fashion and commercial advertising, as evidenced during employment with the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal as an Advertising Account Executive. Also, as the owner/operator of an advertising agency, he conceptualized, designed, and produced ads for leading retail accounts.

The Muse & Merlot selection for the month of September will be “Woman with a Parasol – Madame Monet and Her Son” by Claude Monet.

The session will be held on will be held Friday, September 14th, from 7 to 9 p.m. Seats are $30 per person. Seating is limited to 30 people (No Holds). All participants will be supplied with the needed items to create their own 16×20 masterpiece.

For the September Demonstration, Robert Stacks will show us how he makes handcrafted pieces using a scroll saw. The event is from 1:30 to 3 p.m. at the Brownwood Art Center located at 215 Fisk Avenue. There is no cost to attend the demonstration.
