Written by Ann Glasscock – The Brown County Fair Association is seeking young ladies to compete for the honor to become Miss Brown County Fair Association 2019. The informational meeting will be held October 4th, the mandatory sign up night is October 11th, and the Brown County Fair Association membership sales begin October 12th.

The Queen’s committee led by Anna Hernandez, chairman, and Julie Gribble, co-chair, are looking for young ladies who are high school freshman to seniors, participants in a 4-H, FFA or FCCLA program, will be participating in the 2019 Brown County Youth Fair, and are interested in giving back to the fair association. You can be that girl who wakes up with purpose and intent. Be that girl who shows up and never gives up. Be that girl who believes anything is possible and is willing to work for it. These young ladies will be participating for scholarships and an opportunity to meet amazing people, improve communication skills, and gain leadership abilities while serving their community.

The contestants will be selling youth fair memberships throughout Brown County, and memberships are required to show at the 2019 youth fair. The money raised by the contestants goes directly to the association to support the youth of Brown County. The contestants will represent the youth fair at the Christmas parade and at the annual membership dinner and rodeo.

For more information go to browncountyfairandrodeo.com or see the Brown County Fair Association Facebook page for updates.

The current 2018 Miss Brown County Fair Association Queen, Courtney Jowers, is a college freshman attending Tarleton University. The livestock industry is a large part of Courtney’s life. She raises rabbits, cattle, and she loves to work with her many animals including dogs and her horse. When Courtney isn’t working or caring for her livestock, she enjoys mentoring the youth of Brown County by educating them on topics ranging from animal care to ring etiquette.

The youth fair is just around the corner and will be kicking off soon with validations:

  • Oct 20th Lamb and Goat Validation at the Fair Grounds
  • Oct 23rd Heifer Validation at the Bob Clark pens
  • November 10th Swine Validation at the Fair Grounds
  • Dec 2nd and 16th Horse Validation at the Fair Grounds

The queen contestants will be present at the validations to sell memberships.
