Brownwood News – A fire in 2000 block of Greenbriar Drive in the Lake Brownwood area destroyed a home on Saturday. Pets inside the residence at the time of the fire have not been located and are feared dead. Brownwood Fire Marshal Buddy Preston has declared the home a total loss.

“My Aunt and Uncle lost their house and all their possessions. Their daughter and her children also lost all of their things. They have no where to go,” said Brittany Ogden. The family has organized a GoFundMe account to help recover after the devastating fire.

Multiple fire departments, including volunteer firefighters from May and Early, responded to the house fire around 5 p.m. on Saturday, August 4th. Despite coordinated efforts, the residence could not be saved. The cause of the fire is believed to be an electrical issue with a power strip.
