Griselda Duran de Rivera

Griselda Duran de Rivera, age 64, passed away on Friday, June 29, 2018, at her residence surrounded by her family.

Funeral Services for Griselda will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, July 2, 2018, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Father Frances Njoku officiating; burial will follow at Greenleaf Cemetery. Rosary will be held Sunday evening from 6-7 p.m. and visitation from 7-8 p.m. at Blaylock Funeral Home. Arrangements are under the direction of Blaylock Funeral Home. 

Griselda was born to Nicomedes and Orelia (Villarreal) Duran on December 12, 1953, in Mexico. She married the love of her life, Gumersindo Rivera, on December 25, 1970, in Villa Union, Coahuila, Mexico. 

She loved her plants, going to yard sales, animals, and cooking which she was famous for her tamales. Griselda never met a stranger. She was a devoted daughter, wife, mother, aunt, cousin, and friend. Griselda loved spending time with her family and friends, but most of all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her sunshine.

Griselda is survived by her husband of 48 years, Gumersindo Rivera of Brownwood; 2 daughters, Orelia Munoz and husband Guillermo of Brownwood and Lorena Mantos of Brownwood; 2 sons, Gabriel Rivera Duran and Miguel A. Mantos both of Brownwood; 8 grandchildren, Manuel E. Mantos, Jacob Munoz, Julissa Munoz, Marco A. Mantos and wife Juana, Mason R. Munoz, Zacaria Munoz, Zaide Rivera, and Zailey Rivera; 4 great-grandchildren, Deborah I. Munoz, Julian E. Munoz, Miguel A. Mantos, and Marivel A. Mantos; and 1 niece, Aracely Duran Castilleja. She is also survived by other relatives and a host of friends. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Nicomedes and Orelia Duran.
