Willie Lee Thomas 73 of Brownwood passed away Saturday May 19, 2018 at Abilene Regional Hospital.  A Memorial service will be held Wednesday May 30, 2018 at 12pm at the Brownwood Funeral Home.

Willie Lee Thomas Jr. was born February 18, 1945 in Tahoka, Texas to the late Willie Lee Thomas Sr., and Florence L. Thomas. He was baptized into the Church of Christ at an early age in Temple, Texas. He attended Dunbar Jr. and Sr. High School in Temple, Texas.

In 1967, he served in the U.S. Army. He was a proud veteran who served in Germany, Korea, and Vietnam. He received many awards and medals and badges of honor.

He was preceded in death by both parents: Willie Lee Thomas Sr. and Florence L. Thomas; three brothers: B.H. Thomas, Joe Albert Thomas, and J.E. Thomas; one sister, Joyce Thomas.

He leaves to cherish his wife Herlean Thomas. Eight children: Willie Lee Thomas, II, Temple, TX; Broderick Keith Thomas Sr., Temple TX.; Eric Maxwell, Temple TX.; Willie Lee Thomas III (Lisa), Coleman, TX; Billy Wayne Thomas, Coleman , TX.; Anthony Thomas, Coleman, TX.; Virginia Thomas, Coleman, TX.; Vanessa Thomas-Narvaez (Daniel), Brownwood, TX. Four sisters: Daisy Voice-Perkins, Manor, TX.; Frances Thompson, Killeen, TX.; Nancy Cochran, Dallas, TX; Barbara Ann Brown, Brownfield, TX. Four brothers; Chester Thomas (Sheila), Muskogee, OK.; Howard Thomas (Jean), Temple, TX; Roy Thomas, Killeen, TX.; Julius Thomas (Carolyn), Temple, TX. Twenty seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren. Two Aunts: Josephine McGregor (Emerson), Smithville, TX.; Rosie Mae McDade (Earnest), Lubbock, TX. A host of Nieces, Nephews, cousins,other relatives and friends. Willie will be sadly missed, but forever in our hearts. Online condolences may be made at www.brownwoodfuneralhome.net
