Jonathan Lewis walked through Heaven’s pearly gates on May 18, 2018 at 1:27am.

Jonathan (Lew) was born in Pennsylvania in 1934 to Jonathan and Velma Lewis. He was the oldest son of 6 children. He joined the US Air Force at a young age where he excelled as an Aircraft mechanic. He gained the respect and trust of many generals and colonels because of his knowledge in his field and his work ethic. He got to see many parts of the world while in the military and lived in many different states. He retired as a Master Sergeant to Abilene, Texas in 1974 after serving 20 plus years in the military. He owned his own insurance business, worked at and retired from Halliburton and was the maintenance man at a few different nursing homes. At age 50 he obtained his Associates degree.
He was also a cancer survivor.

He married Irma Lewis in 1964 after a brief courtship and they remained married until her death in 2015.

Jonathan loved life and loved being independent. He was a man who lived life to the fullest and loved his friends and family greatly. He was a practical joker and loved to laugh. He was a handy man, being able to fix almost anything that was broke. He believed in staying active, being outside, and tinkering with what he could. He always had some type of story to tell whether it was about airplanes, cars or fishing.
He loved his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren with all of his heart and would do anything for them. He will be truly missed by the whole family.

He will see again one day in Heaven an Aunt-Leona Mull, 2 sisters Hazel Steinruck and Charlotte Lewis, 2 Brothers, Frank and Theron Lewis. A son, Andre Lewis and his wife Tamra. A daughter, Johna Elliott and her husband Carl. A son-in-law Robert Burns. 9 grandchildren, Heather Rudd, Jon Burns, Austin Burns, Kristi Lewis, Cal Lewis, Andrea Lavy, Shelby Halter, Lacey Odell, and Kacey Humphries. 17 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

He was greeted at Heaven’s gate by his wife, Irma Lewis; a daughter Paula Burns. his parents, A sister, Marie Sullivan; and many other loved ones.

Jonathan has chosen to donate his body to science and will receive a military burial of his ashes. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to the Wounded Warrior Foundation or to the Boy Scouts Of America.
