Brownwood News – The Brownwood Independent School District recently named Dana Cyr and Michelle White for the May spotlight article. Cyr is a first grade and kindergarten teacher and White works as a payroll supervisor for the district.

Dana Cyr, pictured at top left, has 21 years of service to Northwest Elementary School, two of which were in First Grade and the last 19 years in Kindergarten. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Interdisciplinary Elementary Education from Howard Payne University and is certified in Elementary Self-Contained, Elementary English, and Elementary Reading.

“Ms. Cyr brings such joy and enthusiasm to her classroom. She is known as the “soul of kindergarten” on her campus, and her colleagues note with admiration her ability to teach children to care for each other,” read the recent email featuring the BISD employees.

“While teachers are charged with the job of teaching their academic disciplines, we know they provide structure, discipline and a moral compass for our students today. Teachers like Dana Cyr are transforming our children into good citizens as well as good students. At Brownwood ISD, we take pride in caring for the whole child, and Dana Cyr certainly does so with excellence. Congratulations, Mrs. Cyr, on serving as our May 2018 Spotlight Teacher, and thank you for a job well done!“

BISD’s Staff Spotlight honoree is Michelle White, the Payroll Supervisor for Brownwood ISD. White, pictured at top right, works at the Central Administration Office. Educated at both Western State College and Texas Tech University, Ms. White brings experience in Human Resources, Accounting, and Office Management. She joined the Brownwood ISD staff in 2011 and has served in her current position since that time.

“Ms. White is highly regarded within the district, not only for her exemplary job performance, but for her caring and compassionate nature with everyone with whom she works. Her spirit is truly special, and she touches her colleagues with a rare sense of kindness that is inspirational to us all.”

“Brownwood ISD cares as deeply for its faculty and staff as it does for its students. Ms. White is the perfect example of what we desire for those we serve. Her excellence in both her professional and personal countenances represent the very best of Brownwood ISD. Thank you, Ms. White!”
