Written by Ann Glasscock – Let’s rodeo Brown County! It’s more than the saddle or the bronc that he straddles; it’s more than an 8 second ride, thrills, spills, close calls, and competition; it’s more than food, fun, strange sights and bright lights; it’s the exhibition of a western tradition, and a chance to participate in a family fun event.

It’s time for the 55th annual Brown County Rodeo running May 31st through June 2nd and produced by the Andrews Rodeo Company. You might think these cowboys are crazy to ride a bull, get kicked, bucked and spun around until they hit the dirt, only to have a fraction of a second to get out of the way before the bull comes down on them. The rodeo will feature the following acts: the Misfit Cowboy with his trick trained Longhorn Roscoe Brown, the Concho Chicks Drill team, announcer TC Long, Miss Rodeo Texas, and the Legendary Bullrider Dale Brisby.

Brown County Fair Association Membership Dinner May 31st 6 to 8 p.m. at the Home Ec building. Free fajita membership with your BCFA membership purchased for the 2018 fair.

New events this year include goat roping June 2nd and the Brown County Market and Trade Days June 1st and 2nd with 24 vendors. The gates open at 7 p.m. with mutton busting nightly starting at 7:30 and the grand entry at 8 p.m. We are glad to have the return of the Rodeo dance Saturday night June 2nd featuring the Kevin Seale band. Don’t miss out on all of the fun at the Brown County Fairgrounds located at 4206 Highway 377 South in Brownwood, Texas. Pull on your boots, snap up your western shirt and come out for all of the fun events. See you at the fairgrounds!
