Bryant was indicted by the Brown County Grand Jury in April for theft of property valued between $2,500 to $30,000.

The Brownwood Department was notified of the missing 10 Apple laptop computers from the school district’s administration building in December 2017. According to the school district the laptops were new, and not formatted for school use at the time of the theft. The district’s technology department activated the tracking software on the computers and notified the Brownwood Police Department once their location was confirmed. Detectives spoke to Bryant, who cooperated with the investigation. Following the interview with Bryant, nine of the laptops were recovered.

Bryant had worked 16 years at the school district’s administrative office as a receptionist and food service assistant. She was fired after police identified her as the suspect.
