Carla Jean Mathews Butler Mahan

Carla Jean Mathews Butler Mahan, 77, of Brownwood went to be with the Lord on April 19th, 2018.

Services for Carla will be held at Coggin Avenue Baptist Church on Thursday April 26th, 2018 at 2:00pm with graveside following at Bangs Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest by her parents and son. Visitation will be held at Davis-Morris Funeral Home in Brownwood on Wednesday April 25th from 6:00pm to 8:00 pm.

Carla was born in Bangs Texas to HR and Maryann Mathews on August 11th 1940

She was a member of Coggin Avenue Baptist Church and worked in the nursery for approximately 40 years.  She was known to many children as Miss Carla.

Carla worked hard until she retired to take care of her five children.  She enjoyed being a big Sister, Aunt, Mother and Nana.  

She was preceded in death by her parents HR and Maryann Mathews, two of her children Jerry Butler and Kenneth Butler and Grandchild Rebecca Butler

She is survived by her sister and brother-in-law Jayne and Mack Mathis of Statesville North Carolina , brother Mike Mathews and Delora Mathews of Cedar Park Texas, children:  Brian and wife D’Lynn Butler of Plano, Bill and wife Cathy Butler of Houston, Doug and wife Amy Butler of Coleman, and Craig and wife Bethany Butler of Minnetrista, Minnesota;  grandchildren;  Kristina, Sara, Joshua, Leslie, Chris, Rachel,  Ashley, Bradley, Colby, Raena, Zackary, Ryan, Kathryn and  Jack;  great grandchildren: Bobby, Madalyn, Xavier, Payton, Knox, Austin, Ayria, Conner and Jayden; and five nieces.
