Isaias “Ike” Garza, Sr.

Isaias “Ike” Garza, Sr., age 70, of Brownwood passed from this life on Tuesday, February 20, 2018, in Brownwood.

Funeral Services for Ike will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, February 24, 2018, at Blaylock Funeral Home Chapel with Brian Hall officiating; burial will follow at Greenleaf Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Blaylock Funeral Home. Arrangements are under the direction of Blaylock Funeral Home of Brownwood.

Ike was born on March 22, 1947, in Cd. Acuna, Coahuila, Mexico to Isabel and Gabriela Garza. He married Alicia Herrera in Santa Anna; together they raised their 5 children. Ike lived in Santa Anna for many years before moving to Brownwood in the early 2000’s. Ike retired from Santa Fe Railroad after working many years for the company.

Ike was a wonderful, caring and loving man, father, grandfather, friend who will my truly missed. He enjoyed watching documentaries and The History Channel. He kept up with politics and loved baseball and football. But most of all he loved spending time with his kids and especially the grandkids.

Survivors included: son, Ike Garza, Jr. and wife Sabrina of Brownwood; daughters, Elsa Ortega and husband Joe of Brownwood, and Ruth Pannel of Brownwood; 8 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; brothers, Valeriano Garza and wife Sebera of Coleman, Adan Quintero and wife Paula of Cd. Acuna; sisters, Esther Garza of Cd. Acuna, Enriqueta Lemire of La Marque, Rosatina Quintero of Cd. Acuna, Letecia Trevino of Dallas, Eva Quintero Ibarra Garcia and husband Gilberto of Cd. Acuna, Carmella Aguirre and husband Tito of San Angelo. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his father, Isabel Garza; mother, Gabriela Garza Quintero; daughter, Rose Marie Northrup; son, John David Garza; grandson, Zachary Shawn Ortega; and brother, Daniel Garza.
