In addition, the following four BMS eighth-grade students competed individually: Weston Burns, Leila Gautier, Sonora Petty, and Gillian Sapp.

Leila Gautier received first place with the highest individual score, and advanced to the State competition in Austin.

3M is a company sponsor of MouthCounts. Vaughn Costa and Sana Rafie are two engineers from the Brownwood 3M that come to BMS and work with the students to prepare for the competition.

MathCounts is a program that encourages students in their attitude toward and ability in mathematics. BMS teacher, Ann Costa, is the school sponsor for the group.
