BROWNWOOD – Brownwood drivers can expect delays on Thursday, Feb. 8 as TxDOT crews perform signal upgrades at the intersection of West Commerce St. (US 67/84) and Austin Ave. (FM 2524)/Belle Plain St. (SH 279).

Beginning at approximately 9 a.m. and lasting much of the day, the busy intersection will function as a four-way stop, with multiple lane closures in effect. Motorists are encouraged to find alternate routes or allow extra time to reach their destinations.

During this time, crews will be conducting repairs to the signal heads, replacing the existing LED light indicators, and replacing the signal control cabinet and electronics.

Motorists are reminded that traffic fines are doubled in work zones when workers are present.
