Stephen Scoggin M.D. Joins BRMC Staff

Press Release – Brownwood Regional Medical Center (BRMC) is pleased to welcome General Surgeon, Stephen Scoggin,M.D., F.A.C.S. to the medical staff.

Dr. Stephen Scoggin graduated from The University of Texas at Austin in 1983 and from The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston McGovern Medical School in 1987. His postgraduate experience included training at Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami Beach, the Julian Rickles Fellowship in Surgical Oncology, and completed his surgery training at Texas A&M University College of Medicine, Scott & White Memorial Hospital in 1992. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and the Texas Surgical Society. He has certified and recertified twice with the American Board of Surgery and participates in the Maintenance of Certification program.

Dr.Scoggin also served as a Lieutenant Commander in the United States Navy Reserve Medical Corps. He and his wife Vanessa have been married since 1988 and have a daughter who is a medical student at The University of Texas Southwestern Medical School and a son who is in the 5th grade. They look forward to building new friendships and becoming more involved in our community once again.

Dr. Scoggin comes back to Brownwood and Brown County from Burnet County where he practiced surgery as a member of the Seton Family of Doctors and maintains staff membership at Seton Highland Lakes in Burnet and Dell Seton Medical Center at The University of Texas. He also serves as an expert panelist for the Texas Medical Board. He proudly cared for patients from the Brownwood and Brown County area from 1999-2010, and looks forward to continuing the relationships of former patients and creating new patient relationships.

Dr. Stephen Scoggin of Brownwood Surgical Associates is currently accepting new patients. His areas of expertise include general surgery with a special interest in gastrointestinal disease and endoscopy.

In his spare time, Dr. Scoggin enjoys spending time with his family and taking care of the ranch with his son.

“We are pleased to welcome Dr. Scoggin to our medical staff as a General Surgeon. With the current demands of surgical services, the addition of Dr. Scoggin will be very beneficial in meeting the needs of our community,” stated Chip Camp, CEO of BRMC.
