Meldon “Buddy” Harris, age 95, of Bangs went to be with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Friday, December 15, 2017;  his membership has been transferred from the church militant to the Church Triumphant.

Graveside Services for Buddy will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 19, 2017, at Winchell Cemetery with Pastor David Medley officiating. Visitation will be held prior to graveside service from 12:30 – 1:30 p.m. at Blaylock Funeral Home. Arrangements are under the direction of Blaylock Funeral Home of Brownwood.

Meldon “Buddy” and his identical twin brother, Weldon, were born on December 19, 1921, to W. Tom and Lizzie Estelle (Gentry) Harris in Slaton, Texas. Buddy joined the United States Army Air Corps in August 1945 and served in France during World War II; he discharged as a Corporal. After the Army, Buddy spent most of his life living in Winchell.

Buddy loved being outdoors and working outside, from riding horses and working cattle, to bulldozing. He was a “Jack of All Trades”. He never met a stranger; he had the “gift of gab” along with a great sense of humor and storytelling.

Buddy is survived by his daughter, Melinda Harris of San Angelo; step-son, Lee Anderson and wife Cathy of Florida; niece, Mary Lou Middleton of Victoria; and nephews, Johnny Dodds and Chuck Dodds both of Brownwood. He is also survived by several great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, W. Tom and Lizzie Harris; twin brother, Weldon Harris; 4 sisters, Alice Richardson, Estelle Kehley, Johnnie Dodds, and Faola Black; 1st wife, Jerry Mae Harris; 2nd wife, Welcome Harris; and step-son, Edwin B. Hibbs, Jr.

In lieu of flowers the family request memorials can be made to Winchell Cemetery Association (20322 CR 218 Brookesmith, Texas 76827) or Central United Methodist Church (1501 2nd St. Brownwood, Texas 76801). Online condolences for the family are welcome at www.blaylockfuneralhome.com.
