Venita Aline Owen 78 of Brownwood passed away Sunday, November 26, 2017 at Cross Country Nursing Home in Brownwood.  A Memorial Service will be held 1:00 PM Saturday December 2, 2017 at the Haven of Hope Church located at 1617 Main Blvd.

Venita was born June 1, 1939 in Lamesa TX to Carl and Elizabeth Owen. The family moved to Lubbock TX in the late 1940s. Venita married young and moved to Washington state where she resided for the next 20 plus years.  Venita relocated to Brownwood in the early 80’s and remained there until her death.  Venita was a faithful woman who loved the lord, she was a member of the Haven of Hope Church. Venita loved to knit in her spare time. She loved her family and little dog Angel.

Venita was preceded in death by both parents, and a sister Wanda Masey.

Left to cherish her memories are sons Lonny McCurdy and wife Cindy of Brownwood, Rod McCurdy, Mike McCurdy both of Washington State.  Sisters JoAnn Stroope of Andrews TX, Tommie Davis of Brownwood, Barbara Gotcher and husband Rick of Bangs,brother; Carl Owen Jr. and wife Jan of Brownwood. 6 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends.  Online condolences may be made at www.brownwoodfuneralhome.net
