Press Release – The Brownwood and Early Chambers of Commerce held a joint ribbon cutting on Thursday, November 9th for Gridiron Heroes Spinal Cord Injury Foundation to announce the upcoming Texas Heritage Bowl coming to Brownwood in January.

Gridiron Heroes is a non-profit organization formed in 2003 with a specific mission – to provide immediate, as well as, long term resources and support to individuals sustaining catastrophic spinal cord injury through activities associated with high school football.

Chris Canales was injured by a paralyzing tackle playing high school football at San Marcos Baptist Academy in 2001.  After his injury and witnessing other football players sustain spinal cord injuries, Chris and his father Eddie formed Gridiron Heroes.

The Texas Heritage Bowl will be an all-star high school football game hosted in Brownwood’s Gordon Wood Stadium on January 6, 2018 and will benefit Gridiron Heroes.

For more information call 512-409-5277 visit the website at gridironheroes.org  or follow them on Facebook and Twitter.  For info on the Texas Heritage Bowl, go to texasheritagebowl.com.

Pictured cutting the ribbons are founders Chris and Eddie Canales, Texas Heritage Bowl Director Ronald Oswalt, Brownwood Sports Coordinator Roland Soto, along with the Brownwood and Early Chambers of Commerce Ambassadors.
