Jack Dwight Parker, 94, died on Sunday, November 19, 2017 in Brownwood, Texas.

He leaves his wife of 70 years, Betty (Carter) Parker of Brownwood; his son Michael Dwight Parker and his wife Patricia of Odessa; his grandson Michael Chad Parker and his wife Jill of Kerrville; and sister Janice Simpson of DeLeon; and three great-grandchildren; Jack, Jordy and Jolie Parker of Kerrville.

Mr. Parker was born in Comanche County, Texas on July 9, 1923 to Robert Eargle Parker and Grace (Jones) Parker, the second of eight children. In his younger years he helped his family operate their cotton farm in Comanche while also attending school.

At age 19, he was drafted into the army and served honorably in WWII with the 552nd Anti-Aircraft Artillery as a mechanic and truck driver, where he landed on Utah Beach six days after D-Day.

After the war, Jack married Betty Carter, on August 22, 1947. Jack and Betty were long-time residents of Brownwood, Texas where Jack worked for Weatherby Motor Company in the Parts Department for four decades until retiring in the late 90’s.

Jack was a deacon at Early First Baptist Church and was a Mason for over sixty years. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather and will be greatly missed by all.

Memorial gifts may be made to the Brownwood ASPCA, 3016 Milam Drive, Brownwood, TX 76801.

Viewing will be Friday, November 24th from 5-7pm and services will be Saturday, November 25th at 1 pm at Heartland Funeral Home. Interment will be at Eastlawn Memorial Park.

Online condolences may be left for the family at www.heartlandfuneralhome.net

Heartland Funeral Home of Early is in charge of arrangements.
