Charles William MacIlvaine, Jr. (Chuck) passed away on October 27, 2017 in Brownwood.

Chuck was born December 10, 1939, in Norfolk, Virginia to parents Charles and Harriet MacIlvaine. After high school, he was proud to serve his country in the U.S. Army from 1959 – 1962.  Following his military service, he received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Oregon and a Master’s degree from the University of Wyoming and spent his career in public service.  In Wyoming, he served as Water Commissioner for Sublett District and Public Works Director for the City of Evanston.  He finished out his career as City Manager in Winters, Texas.  After retirement, he relocated to Brownwood where he and his wife ran a successful wallcovering installation business.

Chuck was an avid reader and a history buff.  His other hobbies included hunting, fishing, cooking, watching college football and traveling.  He loved visiting his sons and granddaughters in Germany.

He is survived by his spouse, Elaine Centofanti of Brownwood, Texas; two sons, Kai MacIlvaine (and wife Marzena) of Pilsting, Germany and Robert MacIlvaine (and wife Nadine) of Oberschneiding, Germany; three granddaughters, Vanessa, Victoria and Kiowa; three step-children, Maria Taylor (husband Scott), Dan Centofanti and David Centofanti, all of Atlanta, Georgia; and their children Zachary, Miranda, Katie and Matthew; and his brother Bill MacIlvaine of Lancaster, Pennsylvania.

There will be a private family service.  Memorials can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.

Cremation is under the direction of Heartland Funeral Home.

Condolences can be offered to the family online at heartlandfuneralhome.net
