I.E. “Scoot” Smith

A memorial service for I. E. Smith, age 86, of Lake Brownwood, will be held at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, September 27, 2017 at the American Legion Post # 470 at Lake Brownwood.  Inurnment with military honors will follow at 1:00 PM, Thursday in Sunset Memory Gardens in Odessa.

Isaac Estes Smith passed peacefully with family members by his side on Friday, September 22, 2017 at his home.

“Scoot” as known by family and friends, was born in Sonora on November 21, 1930 to Elton and Noble Smith.  He graduated from Ozona High School and attended Sul Ross State University.  He served his country in the Army during the Korean War from 1951 to 1953.

Scoot married the love of his life, Thelma Irene Tessaro, on August 27, 1954. He and Thelma moved to Odessa where they raised their family.  He worked for the Rexene Plant for a number of years before retiring and moving to Lake Brownwood.

Scoot is survived by his three children, Linda Overturf of Cameron, Joe Smith of Arlington, and Roger Smith of Odessa, five grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren and a brother, Barte Smith.

He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents and two brothers, Eddie and Noble Smith.

Heartland Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
