Barbara S. Padgett

Barbara S. Padgett, age 71, of Bangs, went home to be with Christ after a long battle with cancer on Thursday, September 21 in the evening at home surrounded by family and her pastor.

She was born July 1, 1946 in Salem, Illinois. She formerly lived in LaPorte, Pasadena and Deer Park.  She had lived in Bangs, TX for 18 years.  She and her husband, Larry owned and operated the Snak Shak in Bangs for several years.  She was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Bangs where she will be remembered as a mighty prayer warrior, teacher, mentor and hostess to all.  She spent her life in service to and shared the Lord, Jesus Christ everywhere she went.  She loved her family and to her everyone was her family.

She is survived by her daughter, Diana Padgett of Zambia, Africa and son, Wesley Padgett and wife, Elizabeth of Spring, Texas.

5 Grandsons – Keith Loftin of Conroe, Texas, Alexander Williamson of Houston, TX, Christopher Williamson of Grand Prairie, TX and  Timothy, and Zachary Williamson of Spring, TX

three granddaughters – Morgan Elaine Padgett and Michelle Talley of Cypress TX, and Kimberly McDonald of Grand Prairie, TX

Brothers – Bob Benefield and wife, Barbara of Odessa, Tx and Jim Benefield and wife, Bretta of Brownwood, TX; a sister – Diane Weinkauf and husband, Al of Midland, TX

Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and adopted spiritual children also survive.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Padgett; her parents, Robert and Ione Benefield and Mae Benefield of Odessa, TX; Niece – Natia Benefield of Odessa, TX

Funeral services were held yesterday at the Bangs First Baptist Church with burial following in the Bangs Cemetery under the direction of Heartland Funeral Home.
