A graveside funeral service for Wylene Yoes, age 75, of May, will be at 10:00 AM, Friday, August 25, 2017 in Eastlawn Memorial Park with Bill Slaymaker officiating under the direction of Heartland Funeral Home.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 6:00 until 8:00.

Mrs. Yoes died Tuesday, August 22, 2017 in Brownwood.

Phyllis Wylene Whiteley Yoes was born to Allen Forsythe and Nell Nicholson Whiteley on September 11, 1941 in Brownwood.  Later her dad and his wife, Melba Cullins Whiteley, her adoptive mother, raised Wylene to adulthood in the Zephyr community.  She attended Zephyr and graduated as valedictorian of her class and attended Texas Tech University.  She was baptized at a young age at the Zephyr First Baptist Church.  Wylene was unable to attend church in recent years due to health concerns.  Her favorite scripture was John 3:16 and she was an advocate for Christ.  Wylene had two half-brothers in California.  Both preceded her in death.

Wylene worked for the Mercury Automobile Co. and as a clothes buyer for Joskes and Foleys stores in Houston.  She made many trips to New York City buying clothing for these stores.  Wylene went on to own and operate her own advertising business in Houston.

Wylene is survived by her husband, Don Yoes of May, a son, Robert Brewster and wife Marjorie of Lampasas, a daughter, Marquette Meyers and husband Steve of Lampasas; three step-sons, Alan Dale Yoes of Waco, Richard Lee Yoes of Dallas and Daniel James Yoes of Dallas; a brother, Michael Whitleley and wife Nancy of Early and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, cousins and many other relatives.

The family requests memorials be made to Ben Richey Boys Ranch, PO Box 6839, Abilene, 79608.

Condolences, memories and tributes can be offered to the family at heartlandfuneralhome.net.
