James D. Horrell

Funeral services for James D. “Jimmy” Horrell, age 78, of Rising Star,  will be 4:00 PM Saturday, June 24, 2017 at the Heartland Funeral Home. The family will receive friends 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.  He passed away June 16, 2017 in a local nursing home.

He served in the United States Army during Vietnam and was married to Dorothy Marie Willis.  Jimmy was a truck driver for Syvalls Tanks in Odessa, Texas, E.L. Farmer and was later a contractor helper.  After retirement he enjoyed fishing and camping.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Marie Willis Horrell of Rising Star, TX. Three sons: James Horrell Jr. of Victoria, TX, John Garison of Abilene, TX, and Martin Horrell of Rising Star, TX. One daughter: Carol Horrell Larkin and Husband Arthur of Blanket, TX. One brother: Jerry E. Horrell of Abilene, TX. One Sister: Judy C. Lee and husband James of Ellabell, GA. James was also survived by sixteen grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

James was preceded in death by his parents, his sister: Marry Ann Hokett, and his nephew: Dewayne Hoketty.

Heartland Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
