Brownwood News – Brown County Commissioners proclaimed May 21-27 as Emergency Medical Services Week in Brown County at Monday’s regular meeting of the court. First responders from the community were present at the proclamation and recognized for their service to the public.

Lifeguard EMS Chief Chris Furry read the proclamation which recognized emergency medical services as a vital public service, stating that all members of emergency medical services teams are ready to provide lifesaving care to those in need 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and that access to quality emergency medical care dramatically improves the survival recovery rate of those who experience sudden illness or injury.

The proclamation explained that the emergency medical services system consists of emergency physicians, emergency nurses, emergency medical technicians, paramedics, firefighters, educators, administrators and others. Whether career or volunteer, these emergency medical teams engage in thousands of hours of specialized training and continuing education to enhance their lifesaving skills.

The proclamation also stated that it is appropriate to recognize the values and accomplishments of emergency medical service providers by designating Emergency Medical Services Week. Brown County Judge Ray West proclaimed the week May 21-27, 2017 as Emergency Medical Services Week in Brown County and encouraged the community to observe this week with appropriate programs, ceremonies and activities.
