“Some troops from Little Rock found out they could land their C1-30’s here and they like the field,” said Airport Manager Bobby Burks.

Master Sergeant Stacia Zachary, Superintendent of the 19th Airlift Wing public affairs office at Little Rock Air Force Base was able to provide insight for the training missions.

“The 29th is responsible for training. It’s pilots and navigator instructors who help others in those capacities as career fields, to become tactical leaders and experts,” she explained.

Zachary elaborated that, “Our 29th Weapons Squadron is there interacting with some different components within the Air Force, Joint terminal Air Controllers and B-1 Bombers. Lately we have been training in Asymmetrical warfare. Currently in Afghanistan is more of an Asymmetrical, guerrilla type of warfare situation.”

“This training allows them to role play, so that they can understand more conventional warfare. Making sure there is no lapse in capabilities because the type of warfare we are currently fighting.”

The 29th was also schedule to do paratrooper training. Zachary said “Winds were too high so they could not drop the jumpers today.”
