Press Release – Country music sensation, Tracy Byrd will be the featured entertainer at “The Texas Shindig” fundraiser for the Boys & Girls Club of Brown County.  This year’s event will be held at the Brownwood Coliseum on Saturday night May 13th.

Some of Tracy Byrd’s biggest hits include “Holdin’ Heaven”;  “Lifestyles of the Not So Rich and Famous”;  “The First Step”; “I’m From the Country”;  “Watermelon Crawl” and  “The Keeper of the Stars” which earned Byrd the Academy of Country Music’s Song of the Year award in 1995.

Since 2001, the main fundraiser for the Club was the Texas Barn Dance held each May at Sorrel Canyon Ranch, owned by longtime Boys & Girls Club supporters, Bob & Janice Garrett.  But the Garrett’s ranch recently sold and the Club is unable to hold their traditional event there this year.

“Sponsorship opportunities, ticket prices, and event details will be announced very soon,” according to Boys & Girls Club Board of Directors’ president, Hank Hunter. “We promise The Texas Shindig benefit will be a great and fun experience that will offer fans the opportunity to dance the night away to the music of Tracy Byrd, or just enjoy the concert.”

Monies raised at the 2017 Texas Shindig will be critical to the 2017-2018 operating budget of The Boys & Girls Club of Brown County which serves, on average, 200 children each day.
