DOROTHY JONES HART

05/19/1926 to 04/01/2017

Dorothy Jones Hart was born to Sid and Roxie Jones, May 19, 1926 in Ballinger, TX.  Dorothy died April 1, 90 years later at Senior Care in Brownwood, TX following a stroke in November 2016.  Funeral service will be April 5th, 2:00 p.m. at Heartland Funeral Home.

Dorothy loved the thrill of adventure and secretly took flying lessons at age 18 when her parents thought she was at the library.  She loved to hunt, fish and travel.  She traveled with her boat to her lake house at Lake Amistad until her late 70’s and drove her RV until her mid 80’s.

Dorothy lived in Odessa prior to her stroke.  She retired from West Texas Oil Supply in Odessa after 30 years.  She married the love of her life, Chet Hart in 1970.  They shared the love of hunting, fishing and football.  They traveled around the U.S. and Mexico seeking the next big adventure until his death in 1982.  When Dorothy married Chet, she became a mother, then a grandmother and great grandmother to a family she loved and cherished.

Dorothy was a member of Oil City SAMS Travel Club and enjoyed many trips traveling in her RV with the travel group seeking new adventures.  She was a longtime member of the Odessa American Legion Club 430.  She belonged to Asbury United Methodist Church in Odessa.

Always ready to travel, Dorothy and her best friend, Beverly McColloch, made numerous trips a year including cruises and places they dreamed of exploring.  Dorothy loved to play games for hours with friends and family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, J.W. (Derail) Jones; husband, Chet Hart; nephew, Tommy Jones; great-nephews, Jason Jones and Shannon Brincefield

Those left to cherish many wonderful memories are her nephew, Jimmy and Ann Jones of Brownwood; her niece, Sharron and Wade Brincefield of Brownwood; son, Charlie and Debbie Hart of Frisco; granddaughter, Nichole and Brad Cole of Plano; grandson, Charles and Bianca Hart of Lewisville; great-grandchildren, Bradley, William and Carter Cole, and Charles Richard Hart; great-nephew, Marc and Stacy Jones of Rockwall; great-niece, Lori McGowen of Plano, and great-great-niece, Kristi McGowen of Shreveport, LA.  As well as her beloved rescue dog, Sadie.

Memorials can be made to your local Humane Society or your favorite charity or church.

Condolences can be offered to the family online at heartlandfuneralhome.net
