Dorothy Virginia Dodd, age 89, was born in Crowell, Texas, May 12, 1927. She went to her heavenly home peacefully Thursday, February 16, 2017, surrounded by her loving family, friends, and caretakers.

Graveside Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, February 19, 2017, at Pleasant Valley Cemetery with Pastor Tim Skaggs officiating. Visitation will be held Saturday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Blaylock Funeral Home. Arrangements are under the direction of Blaylock Funeral Home.

She married the love of her life, William Herring Dodd in Crowell, July 12, 1945, and had 62 blessed years together and raised their family.

Dorothy went to nursing school in 1966 and became a very loving and caring nurse. She retired from Brownwood Regional Medical Center, but always continued caring and loving for everyone she knew and met. She was a member of First Baptist Church and attended faithfully until her health wouldn’t allow.

Everyone that knew Dorothy will remember her sweet smile, loving personality, her great food, homemade rolls and cinnamon rolls, and her love for football.

She is dearly loved and missed, but we will have our reunion in heaven someday.

Dorothy is survived by her son, Charlie Dodd and wife Jan; daughter, D. Hart; grandchildren, Ryan Dodd, Kristen Dodd, Jordan Dodd, and Eric Hart and their families; 8 great-grandchildren that she loved so much.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, William H. Dodd; and 1 grandson, Christopher Hart.

In lieu of flowers the family request memorials can be made to Good Samaritan, Corrine T. Smith Animal Shelter, or VWF Women’s Auxiliary. Online condolences for the family are welcome at www.blaylockfuneralhome.com
