Clyde Noonkester passed away Sunday, February 13, at his home after fighting cancer for several years.  Visitation for Mr. Noonkester will be Wednesday, February 15, 1:00 to 2:00 p.m.at Heartland Funeral Home in Early.  Graveside service will be at 2:30 p.m. in Eastlawn Memorial Park.

Clyde was the son of D.W. and Lola Noonkester.  From an early age, sports were very important to him, participating in all sports during his high school years.  After high school, he attended Tarleton State University, participating in football and baseball.  Among his many honors there, he was selected as an All American and as a member of the TSU Hall of Fame in both baseball and football.  After graduation and a tour with the Army Reserves, he earned a Masters Degree from Howard Payne University.  Soon after beginning his 32 year career as a public school coach and administrator, he married Joan Hamilton.  He enjoyed sharing his love of sports with his two stepsons.

After obtaining his Administrative Certification from Abilene Christian University, he was persuaded to return to Clarendon to become high school principal.  However, he later returned to coaching until his retirement and move to Brownwood in 1992.  He was a member of the Church of Christ and the Texas High School Coaches Association.

Clyde was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, John L. Noonkester, and is survived by Joan, his loving wife of 50 years, his two stepsons,   Scott Hamilton and wife Kathy, Alan Hamilton and wife Trecia, 3 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, and many close friends and relatives.

Online condolences may be left for the family at www.heartlandfuneralhome.net
