BRMC Announces Volunteer of the Month: Lucy Harkey

Press Release – The Brownwood Regional Medical Center Volunteers are pleased to announce the selection of the January 2017 BRMC Volunteer of the Month. During the February 2017 Meeting of the BRMC Volunteer’s Executive Board, BRMC Volunteer Lucy Harkey was honored as the January 2017 BRMC Volunteer of the Month.

The January 2017 BRMC Volunteer of the Month: Lucy Harkey

Lucy Harkey joined the BRMC Volunteer Organization on May 16, 1969. She is a charter member of the BRMC Volunteer Organization. Lucy’s BRMC Volunteer participation has consisted of: Vice-President /Membership 1971 – 1972, Visitation Chairperson 1973 – 1975, Vice-President / Membership Placement 1981 – 1983, Information Desk Chairperson 1983 – 1984, and Recording Secretary / Membership Placement 1985 – 1986. She currently volunteers at the BRMC Information Desk located at the front entrance to BRMC, where she is always ready to assist patients and visitors. Lucy enjoys providing BRMC Staff Members, patients, and visitors with general information, guiding them, and delivering flowers and Senior Circle meal tickets to patient’s rooms. She has accumulated over 3,645 hours of Volunteer Service at BRMC.

Lucy commented during the presentation of her award that she never imagined when she volunteered at BRMC that she would have had the experiences that were presented to her. She has thoroughly enjoyed being a BRMC Volunteer especially those she has volunteered with and the people she has met. Lucy stated to everyone present, “Be a volunteer and God will give you something to do”.

The BRMC Volunteers are always excited to meet area individuals who are interested in becoming a Volunteer and are actively soliciting new members. If you have an interest in serving others a minimum of 6 to 8 hours per month, BRMC Volunteering will meet your needs. BRMC Volunteer applications may be obtained in the BRMC Gift Shop, at the front entrance information desk, online at http://www.brmc-cares.com or by calling the BRMC Volunteer Office at 325-649-3399 or emailing the BRMC Volunteers at brmc_volunteer@brmc-cares.com and stating that you would like to become a BRMC Volunteer. Those who have an interest in volunteering may also contact Andrea Lee, BRMC Marketing Coordinator, at 325-649-3392.
