Police Blotter: “Frequent Flyer” Booked for 70th Time

On Wednesday, February 1, 2017, Billy Brummett, AKA: Joe Brumett, 38 years old of Brookesmith, was booked into the Brown County Jail after being arrested by Brownwood Police for Public Intoxication. It is the 70th time Brummett has been booked into jail, with a lengthy arrest record dating back to the late 90’s. This is the tenth time he’s been booked for Public Intoxication. Brummett is currently out on a $500 bond.

Law enforcement arrests and reports released Thursday, February 2, 2017. All arrestees are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Blotter information compiled from local law enforcement reports and jail records.

Tuesday, January 31st

*8:54 p.m. Brownwood Police conducted a traffic stop near the 1700 block of Southside Drive. A probable cause search was conducted, and officers arrested Zachery Cooper Huber for Possession of Marijuana, less than 2 ounces.

*8:55 p.m. Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 500 block of Milton in reference to a burglary in progress. A criminal mischief report was filed.

*10:30 p.m. Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 3700 block of Savoy Drive in reference to an assault. A suspect was identified and a report has been filed.

*11:00 p.m. While conducting a traffic stop, a Brownwood Police Officer noticed a “wanted subject” walking near the 1500 block of Coggin Avenue. When the officer attempted to detain the subject, the individual pulled away from the officer and a foot pursuit began. Officers were able to stop the subject, and arrested Daniel Lewis for an outstanding warrant for Continuous Violence Against the Family/Repeat Offender, as well as Evading Arrest.

*11:30 p.m. Brownwood Police were dispatched to a North Brownwood address in reference to a theft. A report was filed.

*A Brown County Sheriff’s Deputy was dispatched to an address on Highway 279 in Cross Plains regarding a burglary. After investigation, nothing was reported missing at the address, and a report of criminal trespass was filed.

*A Brown County Sheriff’s Deputy was dispatched to an address on County Road 445 in Brownwood, regarding a scam. According to the report, a complainant told the deputy they had paid an unknown person “some money” to unlock a Facebook account. A report was filed.

Wednesday, February 1st

*7:50 a.m. A Brownwood Police officer was “flagged down” by a complainant while out on patrol near the 1400 block of Magnolia Street. The individual explained to the officer he had parked his vehicle behind an abandoned residence and it had been burglarized at some point during the night. Various tools were reported stolen.

*Brown County Sheriff’s Deputy arrested 43 year old Daniel Bacon, of Tapeka, on a warrant for Failure to Maintain Financial Responsibility, and No Driver’s License.

*Brownwood Police arrested 51 year old Cheryl Ann Carpenter for Driving While Intoxicated, 2nd Offense.

*Brownwood Police arrested Jason Matthew Inglet, 29 years old, for Manufacturing and Delivery of a Controlled Substance, more than 200 grams, in a Drug Free Zone, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Felon, and Theft of Property < $2,500.

*Brownwood Police arrested 46 year old Tammy Jo Rodriguez for Theft of Property < $750.

*Brownwood Police arrested 20 year old David Martin Wells, of Bangs, on a Erath County warrant for Larceny.
