Bill Chesser, 86, of Brownwood, passed away peacefully the morning of Sunday, January 22, 2017, in Abilene.  He was a beloved Brother, Father, Grandfather and Great-Grandfather.  Funeral Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, January 26, at Central United Methodist Church, 1501 Second Street in Brownwood, under the direction of Heartland Funeral Home, with the Rev. David Medley officiating. Interment will follow at Oakview Cemetery in Mullin. Visitation will be 6 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, January 25, at Heartland Funeral Home.

Billy Jack Chesser was born March 17, 1930 in Brownwood, Texas, the son of Neal and Nell Sellman Chesser, and was a 1947 graduate of Brownwood High School. He served his country in Japan during the Korean War in the United States Air Force from 1950 to 1954.  For his service, he was awarded the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal and the National Defense Service Medal.  On August 28, 1964, he married Margaret Anne Lees at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Brownwood. He was married to Margaret for 50 years until her death in 2014.  He worked for the United States Post Office from 1960 until his retirement in 1990. He was a lifelong member of Central United Methodist Church of Brownwood for over 80 years. He was a proud member of the United Methodist Men and the Upper Room Bible Class.  He was a member of the American Legion Post 196. He loved spending time in the outdoors hunting and fishing, especially with his children and grandchildren.  His kindness, generosity and love will be dearly missed by his family and friends.     

Bill is survived by his two sons; Pat Chesser and wife, Vickie, Chuck Chesser and wife, Stephanie, all of Brownwood; six grandchildren: Taylor Chesser of Dallas, and Tristan, Madison, Sydney, Justin, and Kylie Chesser, all of Brownwood, one great grandchild, Caroline Chesser of Dallas, and a sister, Nancy Stewart of Early, and numerous nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, wife, and brothers, John Chesser, Donald Chesser and Wayne Chesser.   

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Central United Methodist Church, 1501 Second Street, Brownwood, 76801.
