Juanita Fay Gideon, 69, of Coleman, died Sunday, January 15, 2017 at Holiday Hill Nursing Home.  Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 20, 2017 at Stevens Funeral Home, 400 West Pecan, Coleman, with Rev. Daniel Stovall officiating.  Burial will be in the Coleman City Cemetery.  Services are under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.

She was born Juanita Fay Andrews on August 9, 1947 in Coleman to Bertha Mae Hanke Andrews and the late Reynard Leslie Andrews.  She attended West Ward School in Coleman until the family moved to Odessa in 1957.  She then attended Crocket Junior High School and graduated from Odessa High School.  She received a certificate in accounting from Odessa College.  On April 2, 1966, she married Buford Dale Gideon in Odessa.

Juanita worked for Permian Tank and Manufacturing in Odessa for 20 years as secretary to the president.  She loved to help people, no matter who they were, was one of the first Boy Scout Leaders in the Odessa area, was a track coach for the Special Olympics and was an avid bowler, bowling in tournaments all over the United States.  Juanita also loved to garden.  Her favorite flowers were red roses and red hibiscus.  She was a lifetime member of VFW Ladies Auxiliary in Odessa and Emmanuel Baptist Church in Odessa.  After moving to Coleman in 2013 from Odessa, Juanita attended Concho Baptist Church.

Survivors include one son, Leslie Gideon of Coleman; her mother, Bertha Andrews of Coleman; one grandson, Colee Gideon of Odessa; one brother, Charles Andrews and wife, Kathy, of Coleman and numerous cousins and friends.

Besides her father, Juanita was preceded in death by her grandparents, Reinhard and Clara Hanke and Ed and Laura Etta Andrews.

Memorials in memory of Juanita may be made to Hospice of the Big Country, 4601 Hartford, Abilene, Texas  79605.
