james-holland-obit-photoJames Earl Holland made his journey Home on Saturday, December 17, 2016 at the age of 82, in Brownwood.  Funeral services will be held at 10 AM Wednesday, December 21, 2016 at the Davis-Morris Funeral Home Chapel.  Burial will follow at Rocky Creek Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Tuesday at the funeral home.

Jim came into this world on his mother’s birthday, February 16, 1934 in Paris, Texas.  He was the third child of three born to Ernest Bevil and Bessie Erma (Crain) Holland.  Most of his school years were in the Dallas School District.  He was drafted into the Navy in 1956.  He got to see a lot of the world during his enlistment, and he had a tale to tell about every port they entered.  After his stint in the Navy, he went directly into the finance business in the Ft. Worth area.  In 1977, Jim moved to West Texas and went to work in collections for HCA Hospital in Big Spring.  He also moonlighted for 7-11 Stores in Big Spring.  There he met Shirley Dolan and they were married January 19, 1979 I Mt. Pleasant, Texas.  Jim worked for various hospitals until his retirement at age 65.  Since he wasn’t ready to stop working, he became a greeter at Walmart until he became ill.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Erma Holland; his only sister Juanita Handy and husband, David and his only brother Kenneth Holland and wife, Paula.

Jim leaves behind to cherish his memory wife of 37 years, Shirley of Brownwood; daughter Debbie Davis of Brownwood; son Steve Holland and Tawnya of Watauga; stepsons Donnie Dolan and wife Bobbie of Artesia, New Mexico, and David Dolan and stepdaughter, Jana Dolan, both of Brownwood; grandson Tyler Langley, granddaughter Kennedy Holland, step-granddaughters Amy and Chris McLane, Katy Dolan and Elizabeth and Tyler Nichols, Kaci and Eric Owens, and Angela Thompson .  He is also survived by 8 step grandchildren and his best friend and supporter Tom Letz.
