A housing study for Brownwood has been approved by the Brownwood Municipal Development District (BMDD) Board of Directors. Community Development Strategies (CDS) of Houston was selected to conduct the detailed study to help determine the demand for housing of all kinds and price ranges in Brownwood.

A proposal letter from the Houston consultant’s office to the BMDD stated, “Maintaining a balanced price range of available housing (for sale and rental) is critical to the long term viability of any community. Without an adequate supply of attractive housing choices employers will be reluctant to bring their businesses to the city and residents will not be able to move up or find newer housing that meets the needs of their changing lifestyles. For these and other reasons, Brownwood recognizes the need to upgrade their housing stock.”

The housing study will include surveys and dialogue with employers, builders and developers, apartment owners and managers, real estate agents, and public officials.
