law-enforcement-center-2Press Release from the Brownwood Police Department – In an effort to improve the processing and delivery of motor vehicle accident reports, the Brownwood Police Department has partnered with LexisNexis Claims Solutions to make accident reports available online. Currently citizens, insurance companies and others who need copies of accident reports must request and pay for them either by mail or in person at the Police Department. Effective December 1st, accident reports will be available online 24 hours a day. A credit card can be used to purchase and download the report. The fee for accident reports will remain the same at $6.00 for involved parties. For third party requesters including insurance companies, attorneys, media and others, an $8.00 convenience fee will be added.

“We are excited to offer this convenient method to obtain accident reports to our citizens” said Chief Terry Nichols. “Many people do not have time or even the means to come down to the Police Department during business hours to get a copy of their accident report. This will enable everyone to obtain their accident report at their convenience from home or work” added Nichols.

Accident reports will still be available from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Police Department. Cash or check is required to purchase the report at the Department.
