Brownwood firefighters were called to the 1600 block of Avenue E around 4 p.m. on Wednesday, November 23rd, after sightings of smoke coming from an upstairs apartment were reported. Upon arrival, first responders learned one individual was located in the apartment upstairs where the smoke originated.

One male was taken into police custody after impeding emergency services. A block of wood burning on the stove in the apartment was reported to be the cause of the smoke.
