Treats for Santa Bake-off Announced for Christmas Festival

Special to Brownwood News – The Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce will host their annual “Treats for Santa Bake-off” competition at the upcoming 8th annual Christmas Under the Stars Festival on the first weekend in December.

Area bakers can enter the contest to show off their skills in several categories including pies, cakes, bars/brownies, cookies, bread/rolls, and muffins.

The contest will take place on the second day of the festival, Saturday, December 3rd.  Baked goods will only be accepted on Saturday, December 3rd from 3-4 PM at the Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce and judging will begin at 4:30 PM.

Scoring for each treat will be based on taste, appearance and originality.

Cost to enter the competition is $10 per entry and cash prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners.  Entry forms are available at the Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce or can be downloaded at BrownwoodChristmas.com.

The 8th annual Christmas Under the Stars Festival sponsored by Brownwood Regional Medical Center will feature holiday games, crafts, food and attractions for kids of all ages.  The event will take place on Friday, December 2nd and Saturday, December 3rd from 4-8 PM at the Depot Complex and the Lehnis Railroad Museum.  Key attractions will include Mr. and Mrs. Claus, snow mountain slide, Big Wheel Races, carriage rides and more.   Sponsors for the festival include Brownwood Regional Medical Center, United Supermarket, McCoy’s Building Supply, Home Depot,  Brownwood Women’s Clinic, Staples, and Landmark Life.

The annual lighted Christmas Parade will be held Thursday, December 1st at 6:30 PM in Downtown Brownwood sponsored by Texas Rock Crusher Railway.
