Three members of the Brownwood High School Lionettes Drill Team will travel to New York City to perform in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.

“I’m so excited,” said Cora McNeese, who has participated in the parade twice. “It’s so much fun, it’s like a dream. The parade is what I’m most looking forward to.”

McNeese was grateful to the local community for this opportunity. “I’d like to thank the community on behalf of the entire Lionettes team. We’re blessed to have their support.”

Brownwood High School Juniors Cora McNeese and Erin Dyer, and Freshman Ivy Townsend will spend the week rehearsing and touring with Spirit of America Productions before dancing in the parade on Thursday morning.  The Lionettes earned Team of the Week as well as individual honors at American Dance/Drill Team camp at Southern Methodist University in Dallas last summer to qualify to participate in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.

The Spirit of America Productions Dance performance consists of dancers, ages 14-18 years old, from high schools and studios from across the United States. Dancers will arrive in New York on Saturday, November 19th and will begin a week-long schedule of rehearsals leading up to their performance during the parade on Thursday, November 24th. The dancers will also participate in several activities and tours throughout the week at notable New York City locations like Times Square, The Statue of Liberty, Radio City Music Hall and the 9/11 Memorial Museum.
