Skaters of all ages and skill levels from Brownwood as well as Abilene and Austin participated in the first ever Skatepark Contest today from noon to 4 p.m.

The contest included four competition brackets for skill levels ranging from beginner to advanced. Categories also included Best Trick, Regular Competition with Divisions, and a Game of S.K.A.T.E. Prizes include cash awards and giveaways will took place during the competition.

The presenting sponsor for the event was the Heartland Mall Chick-Fil-A, with additional sponsors including X Games Austin, Cotton Patch Cafe, Heff’s Burgers, and Roberson Rent-All.

Local Chick-Fil-A owner, Brent Gooch, was impressed with the turnout as well as the comradery and teamwork throughout the day. “It was amazing,” said Gooch. “Tons of kids skating. Lots of young people there before it started, helping out with moving bleachers.”
