Phillip Earl Whitley

Phillip Early Whitley, also known as “Pop”; age 80, passed away on November 2, 2016 in Brownwood, Texas.

Mr. Whitley was born on November 9, 1935, in George West, Texas to Bill & Martha (Pundt) Whitley. He Married Edith Everett Tullis Daniels on November 11, 2011 in Brownwood, Texas at Austin Avenue Church of Christ.

He attended Harlandale High School in San Antonio, Texas. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, dancing, crossword puzzles, and was an avid reader. Mr. Whitley served in the United States Air Force, earned Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, and the National Defense Service Medal. He was a retired Electrician.

Mr. Whitley was a lifetime member of the North America Hunting Club, VFW Post 3278, American Legion Post 345, and the Air Evac Life Team.

He is survived by Daughters Cherie Burke & Husband Jammie of Alpena, Michigan, Shirley Aikens & Husband Steve of Clovis, California, Sons Phillip Whitley, Jr., Virgil Ivy, Gregory Ivy, Bryan Ivy, of Winchester, Wisconsin; Brother Dennis & Wife Missy Baker of Terrell, Texas, Sister Debbie Martinez & Husband Marty of Frederick, Colorado; Numerous Grandchildren, Great-Grandchildren, Nieces and Nephews.

Other Survivors include daughters Debra Mabary, April Daniels, Wanda Rocha & Husband David, Sons Steve Tullis, and Grandson Jon Mabary & Wife Rebecca.

Mr. Whitley was preceded in death by his parents, one sister Doris Martella, and one niece Kim Thompson.

The Family wishes to thank his Brother Dennis Baker, Dr. Childres, VA Clinic; Brownwood Regional Emergency Room Staff; Air Evac Life Team; San Angelo Community Hospital; Kindred Hospice Nurses and Staff, as well as a great friend Keith Madole.
