Funeral services for John Baldwin, age 92, of Brownwood, will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday in Grace Lutheran Church. Burial will follow at 3:00 PM in the Fort Phantom Hill Cemetery under the direction of Heartland Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday evening from 7:00 until 8:00.

John Baldwin went home to be with the Lord on Oct. 23.  He was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church.  He loved God, America, and his family and friends.  He retired from the U.S. Air Force as a Master Sergeant, and was a veteran of WWII, Korea, and Viet Nam.  He also flew the Berlin Airlift, and had the privilege of seeing that wretched symbol of Communism come down during his lifetime.  He loved fishing, jazz music, and playing 42.

He is survived by his wife, Leona, and his 2 daughters–Janice Baldwin from Dallas, and Janet Harlow, who with her husband Archie, live in Brady.  He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Dorothy Byar, in Memphis; his stepson, Grant Schumann and his wife, Nathalie, who live in California, and numerous nieces and nephews in Arkansas, California, and Tennessee.  He died a hero and friend to many.
